What Is Close Protection?

Close protection — often referred to as executive protection or personal security — is the professional discipline of safeguarding a principal (a person of elevated risk or status) from physical threats during movement and at locations. Unlike static guarding, close protection is inherently dynamic: it moves with the client, anticipating threats before they materialise and neutralising risks before they escalate.

At Kodinga Logistics, close protection is integrated into our executive transport offering. Rather than simply providing a driver with a vehicle, we provide a complete protective mobility solution: a trained close protection officer or team, a carefully selected and prepared vehicle, advance route intelligence, and 24/7 communication throughout every engagement.

The Security Environment in Kenya

Nairobi is a sophisticated, cosmopolitan city and East Africa's business capital. For most visitors and residents it is entirely safe — but for high-profile individuals, senior executives, visiting dignitaries and high-net-worth families, the threat landscape is real. Targeted theft, vehicle interception, kidnap-for-ransom, and hostile surveillance are documented risks in Kenya for those operating at a certain level. Professional close protection mitigates these risks proactively, not reactively.

Who Needs Close Protection in Kenya?

Our Team's Credentials

Kodinga Logistics' close protection officers are drawn from backgrounds including Kenya Police Service, Kenya Defence Forces, and internationally certified CP training programmes. Each officer holds current PSP (Private Security Provider) registration under the Kenya Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSRA) and has completed advanced driving certification alongside CP-specific training covering threat identification, counter-surveillance, first aid, and principal escort.

Service Components

Advance Work
Route and venue reconnaissance conducted before every principal movement. We survey primary and alternate routes, identify chokepoints, and assess venue security.

Primary, secondary and emergency routes mapped and briefed to all team members before departure. Routes are adjusted in real time based on threat intelligence.
Protective Driving
CP-trained drivers operate to advanced pursuit and evasive driving standards. Vehicle positioning, anti-ambush techniques and convoy procedures applied.
Communications
Encrypted radio or mobile comms maintained across the full protection detail. Operations control monitors in real time throughout every engagement.
